The update KB5052084 (build 22635.4945) for Windows 11 is now rolling out in the Beta Channel of the Windows Insider Program. This update only includes improvements and fixes for the 23H2 development.

According to the company, update KB5052084 for Windows 11 includes undisclosed changes to improve the overall experience. It also updates the Spotlight icon that appears on the desktop with a new color and backplate and moves it to the bottom-right corner of the screen.

As part of the fixes for File Explorer, the development team made changes to speed up the performance while extracting zipped files. You will notice this improvement when unzipping a large number of small files.

In addition, there are a few other improvements in reliability. It also fixes rendering of the address bar when opening the app from the command line, addresses problems when selecting files in the “Recommended” section, and finally fixes the “See more” option opening in the wrong direction.

This release fixes crashes with the explorer.exe process, other issues when using the touch keyboard to sign in to your account, and password reset crashes on the Lock Screen.

Microsoft is also pointing out known issues for File Explorer and the Settings app.

Installation process

To download and install this Windows 11 build, enroll your device in the Beta Channel through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program and click the “Check for Updates” button.

Microsoft recently announced that devices in the Dev and Beta Channels are now receiving the same previews from version 24H2 development but as an optional install for those devices in the Beta Channel. However, this preview is available on the Beta Channel for users still in version 23H2. If you want to stay in the version 23H2 development, don’t turn on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option.

In the Beta Channel, for devices already updated to version 24H2 development, Microsoft has also rolled out Windows 11 build 26120.3281(KB5052086).
