  • Windows 11 23H2 will reach the end of support on November 11, 2025.
  • This means that the operating system will no longer receive updates or support of any kind.
  • Affected editions include Windows 11 Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations.
  • If you’re still using this version, it’s recommended that you upgrade to version 24H2.

Microsoft will end support for Windows 11 23H2 (build 22631) on November 11, 2025. This applies to some of the editions, including Windows 11 Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations. However, Windows 11 Enterprise and Education will continue to be supported until November 10, 2026.

After this day, you can continue to run version 23H2, but you should consider that Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, features, device drivers, or technical support. However, if you continue using this specific release, the system will eventually upgrade automatically to the next supported version, which in this case will be version 24H2.

It’s unclear exactly when the systems will receive the newer release automatically, but usually, the company communicates the beginning of this process as the older release gets closer to its support deadline.

Although many users have been reporting isolated issues with version 24H2, it’s important to note that keeping an operating system without support will eventually make your system vulnerable to malware and other forms of attacks. Also, the device may start experiencing compatibility problems with newer software and drivers, as third-party software vendors may also stop supporting the version.

Windows 11 24H2 has been available since October 2024, which introduced a slew of AI features and other changes, but more importantly, throughout these months, the company has been making available a number of updates to improve and fix many of the bugs with the operating system.

The best action is to plan the upgrade to the next supported version of the operating system. You can upgrade manually by opening Settings > Windows Update, clicking the “Check for updates” button, and then clicking the “Download and install” button (if applicable).

If you decide to upgrade from 23H2 to 24H2, the system will extend support until October 13, 2026.

Alternatively, you can also perform an in-place upgrade or clean installation if you want to make the leap to Windows 11 24H2. After the installation, you’ll need to restart to complete the installation, which could take some time, depending on the hardware configuration.

If you want to manually upgrade to the most recent version, you can use the Media Creation Tool or Update Assistant.

In addition, on October 14, 2025, Microsoft also ended support for Windows 11 22H2 for Enterprise and Education editions available for organizations. It’s important to understand that version 22H2 for Home and Pro editions retired in October 2024.

Are you still running version 23H2 on your computer? When are you planning to upgrade? Let me know in the comments.
