Build 29550 for Windows 11 27H2 with new power settings (Canary)

Microsoft releases the first preview of Windows 11 in the secondary patch of the Canary Channel.

  • Windows 11 build 29550 rolls out in the Canary Channel for version 27H2.

Microsoft is releasing Windows 11 build 29550 to the Canary Channel, delivering another incremental update with several fixes and small improvements.

According to the official changelog, “Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (19550)” ships with Emoji 16.0, which introduces a new set of emojis. In the Camera settings, you’ll find new options to control pan and tilt for supported cameras.

In the power settings, the global settings (such as for Display, Sleep, Hibernate, and button) will now apply to all power plans.

This preview also ships with an updated version of File Explorer that uses Voice Typing to rename files, and Nearby Sharing now improves reliability when sending large files to other devices.

Finally, this Windows 11 29550.1000 ships with an updated version of the Settings app that improves performance when loading the “Home” page and reliability when accessing the “Privacy & Security,” “File Explorer,” and “Wheel” pages.

Furthermore, when running the sfc/scannow command, the process runs more reliably.

Other details

It’s important to note that Windows 11 27H2 has not been officially announced. So far, the company has only indicated that the Canary Channel will split into two separate development paths as part of a platform change. This move strongly suggests that work toward version 27H2 is underway.

Preview build download

To download and install this Windows 11 build, enroll your devices in the Canary Channel through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download the build from the “Windows Update” settings by turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option, and then going to Advanced options > Optional updates and check the preview build in the 29500 series, and clicking the “Download & install” button.
