Microsoft is releasing the Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (26340.9502) for version 26H2 through the Experimental experience in the Windows Insider Program. This wave of updates introduces improvements to existing features, along with various fixes, as part of the Windows K2 initiative.
According to the official notes, Windows 11 build 26340.9502 adds a sleeker Mouse indicator with a new option to keep it active until you press Esc.
The Magnifier gets a contrast theme toggle that reduces glare without changing the colors of photos, videos, or charts.
Also, Cloud rebuild adds drive sanitization for secure data erasure and remote configuration for network administrators. The update also improves Live Captions and fixes issues with Hyper-V Plan9 folder sharing and File History backups.
What’s new on Windows 11 build 26340.9502 (Experimental)
These are the new features and improvements rolling out in the Experimental channel:
A smoother Mouse indicator
The Mouse indicator is getting a new animation that makes the visual aid feel more polished. You can enable the animation in Settings > Accessibility, and Microsoft is also adding an option to keep the indicator active until you press the “Esc” key, giving you more control over when it disappears.
Magnifier gets a new way to reduce glare
A bright screen can be uncomfortable, and while color inversion helps reduce glare, it also changes the colors of photos, charts, and videos. The company is adding a new contrast theme toggle to Magnifier that darkens the interface without altering those visuals.

You can turn it on directly from the Magnifier toolbar, while Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier lets you choose the contrast theme. The dark theme is enabled by default. Color inversion remains available and works as before, so the new option gives you another way to make the screen easier on your eyes without changing your content’s colors.
Cloud Rebuild makes it easier to wipe a PC
Cloud Rebuild is getting two useful additions that make reinstalling Windows 11 more flexible. The recovery option can now sanitize a computer’s drives during the rebuild. In WinRE, you can choose “Remove files” if you’re keeping the device, or “Remove & sanitize files” before recycling, returning, or reassigning it.

The sanitize option uses the storage hardware’s erase capability to securely erase the data before reinstalling the operating system, and the process is irreversible.
For network administrators, the company is also adding remote control through the Recovery CSP, allowing them to configure and start a Cloud Rebuild remotely using either the currently installed build or a specific target build.
Live Captions avoids unnecessary screen reader audio
Live Captions is getting a new “Include Screen Reader audio” setting, which is turned off by default. When disabled, Live Captions won’t transcribe audio from screen readers such as Narrator, JAWS, and NVDA, keeping the captions focused on microphone and system audio.
Hyper-V fixes Linux folder sharing
Microsoft is fixing an issue affecting some applications that use HCS-managed virtual machines when sharing host folders with Linux VMs through Plan9.
Previously, shared folders could fail to appear or remain inaccessible from the Linux guest, making it frustrating to move files between the host and virtual machine.
File History backup issue gets fixed
Microsoft is also fixing a frustrating File History problem that could cause backups to fail unexpectedly with the “No usable drives found” error. The change should help restore File History backups on affected systems.
