Microsoft has released the Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (29667) for the Feature Platforms version in the Windows Insider Program. This flight introduces fixes and improvements as part of the Windows K2 initiative.
According to the official notes, Windows 11 build 29667 adds Emoji 17.0, fixes an Arm64 upgrade issue, and improves touchpad gestures, Remote Desktop, Run, the Taskbar, networking, and Bluetooth settings.
Microsoft is also looking into VMware issues, including blank virtual machine windows and green screens.
What’s new on Windows 11 build 29667 (Experimental)
These are the new features and improvements rolling out in the Experimental channel:
Emoji 17.0 with new characters
Windows 11 is expanding its emoji collection with support for Emoji 17.0, bringing several new characters to the built-in emoji picker. The additions include distorted face, fight cloud, and hairy creature, among others.

You can try the new emoji by pressing the “Windows key + Period (.)” keyboard shortcut to open the emoji panel and selecting them from the picker.
Microsoft is also making a handful of existing emoji look more consistent across platforms. The refreshed designs include the saluting face, face with peeking eye, goose, lotus, and kissing cat emoji, giving some familiar characters a subtle visual cleanup.
Other fixes
Windows 11 build 29661 also includes several fixes and improvements:
- Touchpad: Fixed an issue that prevented touchpad zoom gestures from working correctly in some apps.
- Remote Desktop: Fixed a graphics card error (0x11) that some Insiders encountered when connecting through Remote Desktop.
- Run: Improved the reliability of the modern Run dialog.
- Taskbar: Improved the reliability of loading the system tray.
- Network: Fixed an unexpected error when opening Network and Sharing Center and an issue preventing some users from connecting to certain Wi-Fi networks.
- Settings: Added gamepad navigation support to the Bluetooth quick settings page.
As part of the known issues, Microsoft is looking into a problem with VMware Workstation Pro 17.6.4 that can cause a blank window when reopening a virtual machine, as well as reports of VMware devices experiencing green screens. A fix is expected in a future build.

To download and install these Windows 11 builds, enroll your Devices in the Experimental channel for the Future Platforms version through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download the build from the “Windows Update” settings by turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option and clicking the “Check for Updates” button.
