Does your PC has the next version of Windows 11 already installed? Here are two ways to find out.

  • To check if Windows 11 24H2 is installed on your computer, use the “Windows key + R” keyboard shortcut, enter the “winver” command, click “OK,” and confirm the version number.
  • Another way is to open Settings > System > About and confirm whether version 24H2 is installed in the “Windows Specifications” section.

On Windows 11, if you want to check whether version 24H2 is already installed on your computer, the system provides at least two ways to do this, and in this guide, I’ll show you how. Although the operating system should show a welcome experience after an upgrade, letting you know of the new changes, this rarely happens, and it doesn’t actually tell you the version number. You will only receive a short overview of the new changes.

In 2024, the feature update is known as version 24H2 (also referred to as the Windows 11 2024 Update), which reflects the year (24) and part of the year (H2 or half two) that indicates when the company plans to roll it out.

If you want to confirm that Windows 11 24H2 is installed on your device, you can use the “winver” command and the “About” settings page.

It’s important to note that the feature update is expected to start rolling out sometime in September 2024. If you check the version before it’s officially available, the device will likely still be on one of the previous releases, such as version 23H2 or 22H2. If so, you can upgrade to the new version early with these instructions.

In this guide, I will teach you the steps to confirm if Windows 11 24H2 is already installed on your computer.

Check if Windows 11 24H2 is installed from Winver

To check whether your computer has the Windows 11 24H2 is installed, use these steps:

  1. Open Start on Windows 11.

  2. Search for winver and press Enter.

If the dialog shows “Version 24H2” along with “OS Build 26100.xxx,” or a higher build number, then the Windows 11 2024 Update is installed.

Check if Windows 11 24H2 is installed from Settings

To confirm you have Windows 11 24H2 installed from the Settings app, use these steps:
