Customize Windows appearance with CustoPack Tools

You'd like to change the look and feel of Windows but you already utilized all the options! Ready to try something new? CustoPack Tools -- themes for Windows -- may be of interest to you. CustoPack is a freely available software that allows you to easily customize Windows with custom themes packs (icons, cursors, images, visual style, backgrounds, etc.). With this software you can choose and download theme packs designed for general public, or create your own theme packs for users with better understanding of Windows, and choose your own settings and configuration.

CustoPack is a freely available software that allows you to easily customize Windows with custom themes packs (icons, cursors, images, visual style, backgrounds, etc.). With this software you can choose and download theme packsdesigned for general public, or create your own theme packs for users with better understanding of Windows, and choose your own settings and configuration.

CustoPack is available for Windows only and the system requirement is:

  • Windows XP (32-bit with minimum the SP2)
  • Windows Vista (32-bit & 64-bit)
  • Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit)

 

Downloading and installing CustoPack Tools

To download CustoPack Tools go to the download page and save the installation file in your desktop. And the installation is pretty easy, as any other software installation (next, next, next…).

Installing a theme pack with CustoPack

Downloading a theme from CustoPack is straight forward, launch the program, in Choose a CustoPack click the Download CustoPacks link and it will redirect you to the gallery page, choose and download the theme pack you like. Open the downloaded file. The installation process will automatically run CustoPack Tools software.

After you downloaded and installed the theme pack, CustoPack Tools software will open a preview, here you can find some screenshots of how the theme pack is going to look like once applied, and to the right side you’ll have a list of what is included in the pack. Note that all imported theme packs are going to be located under CustoPack ready to be installed.

Click Selection of options and installation, from here you can click the check marks and exclude components for being installed, choose among basic, classic or full installation. Click Next step, accept the license and click Install CustoPack. After or during the installation, you will be prompted to Restart your computer or to Log out. This allows to complete the theme pack installation.

To further customize the installed theme pack, from Choose a CustoPack select Edit the currently used CustoPack and you will be able to edit visual style, change backgrounds, change the logo screen, advanced edition, etc.

Conclusion

Even though there is not many theme packs to choose from yet, CustoPack Tools is a good program to change Windows appearance, and with an application to crate new themes that it is not too complicated — for advanced users — to use and quite powerful.

The good thing about this program is that after the customization is setup, there is not an application continuously running in the background wasting system resources, like we used to see in the past, and this is important.
