When setting up a new device or creating a new user account on Windows 10, you’re now forced into adding a PIN alongside a password. Although using a PIN has its benefits, such as simplicity and more secure, because it’s only locally relevant, it’s not an option that everyone wants.
If you’re currently signing in with a PIN, but you rather use a password or another mechanism for authentication (such as fingerprint), you can remove the PIN using the Settings app.
How to remove PIN password on Windows 10
To remove a PIN password on Windows 10, use these steps:
Click on Accounts.
Click on Sign-in options.
Under the “Manage how your sign in to your device” section, select the Windows Hello PIN option.
Click the Remove button.Important: If you’re not running the Windows 10 April 2019 Update, version 1903, the settings may look a little different, but the steps still apply.
Click the Remove button again.
Confirm your current password and click the OK button.
Once you complete the steps, you’ll no longer be able to sign in with a PIN, and you’ll need to use your account password to access the desktop. If you rather bypass the Sign-in screen, you can use these steps to remove your account password on Windows 10.
