Each and every network adapter (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) in the world includes a unique hardware identifier, which we know as MAC address (media access control address). This is a 48-bit address (often referred as hardware or physical address)is divided into six octet represented by hexadecimal numbers (e.g., 00-0C-29-E4-D8-90) and it’s use for communication at the data link layer.
At one point in time, you’ll need to find the MAC address assigned to your network adapter on your computer. For example, when setting up your Wi-Fi router and you’re setting up network access filtering, or when you have a number of devices connected to a router and you want to find out exactly which device is which.
