Windows 11 update KB5007215 (build 22000.318) with fixes

Microsoft issues the second Windows 11 Patch Tuesday update to fix rendering problems with apps.

Microsoft is now rolling out the update KB5007215 for computers running the original release of Windows 11 (version 21H2). This is the second monthly patch the company is making available, and it’s a small update with only a few fixes.

The update KB5007215 bumps the version number to build 22000.318, and according to the company, it addresses rendering problems with a certain app, more specifically with apps that use GDI+ and set a zero (0) width pen object on displays with high dots per inch (DPI) or resolution, or if the app is using scaling.

The update download and install automatically, but you can always force it from Settings > Windows Updates and click the Check for Updates button. Alternatively, you can download the update KB5007215 directly from the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

In addition, Microsoft is also releasing the update KB5007186 for versions 21H1, 20H2, and 2004 with various fixes.

Uninstall update KB5007215

If the system update is causing issues, you can always uninstall it using these steps:

  1. Open Start on Windows 11.

  2. Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.

  3. Type the following command to view the update history and press Enter:

    wmic qfe list brief /format:table

  4. Check the Windows Update history of your device, and identify the update by its HotFixID and InstalledOn information.

  5. Type the following command to uninstall the update from your computer and press Enter:

    wusa /uninstall /kb:5007215
    Quick note: In the command, replace “5007215 ” for the KB number corresponding to the update you are trying to uninstall.

  6. Click the Yes button.

  7. Continue with the on-screen directions (if applicable).

Once you complete the steps, the recently installed update will be removed from your installation, fixing any issues resulting from the release.

If your computer doesn’t boot after installing KB5007215, you can remove the update from the Advanced startup environment using these steps.
