The classic Microsoft Paint app is now an optional feature on Windows 10, which means that you can decide to remove or keep the app, and in this guide, you'll learn how to do it.

Microsoft Paint is a classic 2D graphic editor application that has been part of Windows 10 (and older versions) for a long time. The app can open and save files using JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, and Windows bitmap.

Although the app was originally deprecated with the Fall Creators Update in favor of the Paint 3D app, with the release of May 2019 Update, Microsoft decided to keep classic Paint for a little longer. However, starting with the Windows 10 20H1 update, the classic graphic editor app is becoming an optional feature, which means that you can now uninstall and install it from the Settings app.

In this guide, you’ll learn the steps to uninstall (and install) the classic Microsoft Paint app on Windows 10 (20H1).
