Windows 10 build 16176 releases (no) new features

New Redstone 3 preview rolls out for testing with a few new improvements, but nothing significant.

Windows 10 updates

Microsoft has released Windows 10 build 16176 to PCs enrolled in the Fast ring of its Windows Insider Program. The new update is part of the Redstone 3 update coming later this summer, but the company notes that no new features has been added to the test version of the OS.

Windows 10 build 16176, according to Microsoft, doesn’t include noticeable changes because they continue to make modifications to OneCore (the heart of Windows) with code refactoring to soon starting adding new features and improvements.

What’s new on Windows 10 build 16176

Although, you won’t be seeing any new significant features, build 16176 ships with support for serial devices for Windows Subsystem on Linux.

Starting on this flight, you can now hold down the power button for 7 seconds to trigger a Blue Screen of Death (BSoD). However, this new feature will only work on computers that don’t use legacy ACPI power buttons.

In addition, on Windows 10 build 16176, Surface Books will no longer unexpectedly do a disk check after waking from sleep due to a Blue Screen of Death during sleep.

The new test build comes out only days after the Windows 10 Creators update released to the public with a bunch of new changes and features, including new support for 3D and virtual reality, gaming features such as Game Mode, and Beam integration to enable in-game broadcast. Microsoft Edge gets new tabs tools and a new e-book reader, the Creators Update also introduced the Windows Security Center dashboard, and a lot more.

What’s new on Windows 10 Mobile build 15204

Alongside the new flight, Microsoft is also pushing out Windows 10 Mobile build 15204 for phones in the Fast ring. You won’t find anything new, but the company has announced the phones that will be officially supported in the Insider program starting with the Creators Update:

However, users who have devices not on this list can still keep these devices on the Windows 10 Creators Update at their own risk knowing that it’s unsupported.
