  • Microsoft pushes version 23H2 in the Release Preview Channel.
  • The update rolls out the new features already announced for the September update.
  • This release doesn’t include any additional features.

Alongside making available the September 2023 update in the Stable Channel, Microsoft is now also releasing version 23H2 in the Release Preview Channel of the Windows Insider Program with minor improvements and changes.

Build 22631 (2023 Update) for Windows 11, according to the official changes, only changes the Chat experience for the Microsoft Teams (free) app in the Taskbar, and no additional features are being deployed with this release.

Microsoft also explains that version 23H2 has the same serving branch and code base as version 22H2, and it will be available with the same features and changes as the September 2023 update for Windows 11, which includes the new Copilot AI, the new Windows Backup app, the redesigned version of File Explorer, the new Dynamic Lighting feature, updates for various of the inbox apps, and much more.

The update is available for commercial customers, meaning on devices “not running the Windows 11 Home edition and is being managed by an IT administrator (whether via Microsoft Endpoint Manager or other management solution) or has a volume license key or commercial ID or is joined to a domain.” In addition, the new version is available for anyone with a computer enrolled in the Release Preview Channel.

As part of this release, the company is also making available the ISO file to perform an in-place upgrade or clean installation of version 23H2.
