Today Windows Server Division WebLog has announced that Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) final release (RTM) has been delivered to OEM. Starting February 16th MSDN and TechNet Subscribers and Volume License customers will able to get their hands on Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 SP1 to start deploying. And for everyone else, well… We are going to have to wait until February 22th to download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from Microsoft Download Center or from Windows Update.
Don’t get really excited yet, because it seems that this latests Service Pack 1 (SP1) will not bring new features or great enhancements to Windows 7, simply better support by delivering ongoing updates, which many of them have already been made available in Windows Updates in past. But Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 seems to be the one that is going to bring some new features like: Dynamic Memory, which enables servers running Hyper-V for server virtualization to adjust dynamically Virtual Machine memory usage based on demand, making the server more efficient, and RemoteFX, which allows to deliver a local like experience for remote users through Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and also Windows updates previously made available.
