Microsoft has released the Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (26220.8690 ) for version 25H2 via the Beta experience in the Windows Insider Program. This flight introduces new features, significant changes to existing features, and various fixes as part of the Windows K2 initiative.
According to the official notes, Windows 11 build 26220.8690 ships with a handful of reliability improvements. The update fixes an issue that could trigger HYPERVISOR_ERROR (0x20001) and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (0x1E) bug checks on some devices after installing recent flights.
Also, the company notes that affected systems could experience crashes during restarts, virtual machine workloads, or while running certain games.
In addition, the company improved the reliability of the Start menu so newly installed or removed apps appear correctly without requiring users to sign out or restart the system. Build 26220.8690 also includes a fix to improve the reliability of the “Startup” settings app.
