What’s new on Windows 11 build 28120.2760 (Experimental)
These are the new features and improvements rolling out in the Experimental channel:
Cloud Rebuild gives Windows Recovery a major upgrade
Microsoft is introducing Cloud Rebuild, a new recovery option that can reinstall Windows 11 even when the operating system refuses to boot. The feature restores the computer to a clean, known-good state by downloading the Windows image and the device’s drivers directly from Windows Update, so you don’t need a USB drive, custom image, or a working installation to get the system back up and running.
In this preview, you can launch Cloud Rebuild from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) by going to Troubleshoot > Recovery and uninstall > Cloud Rebuild. You’ll need to connect WinRE to the internet using Ethernet or Wi-Fi, then review the target Windows build, edition, and language before confirming the data-loss warning and starting the rebuild.
Hyper-V fixes Linux VM folder sharing
A Hyper-V issue affecting Linux virtual machines has been fixed. Some applications using HCS-managed virtual machines could not properly share host folders with Linux guests through Plan9, causing shared folders from Windows to either disappear or become inaccessible inside the virtual machine.
