Microsoft has released the Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (26220.9492) for version 25H2 via the Beta channel in the Windows Insider Program. This update introduces new features and improvements as part of the Windows K2 initiative.
According to the official notes, Windows 11 build 26220.9492 is rolling out to the Beta Channel with a new Live Captions option to include screen reader audio, plus fixes for Hyper-V Linux VM folder sharing and File History backups.
What’s new on Windows 11 update 26220.9492 (Beta)
These are the new features and improvements rolling out in the Beta channel:
Live Captions changes
Live Captions is getting a useful new Include Screen Reader audio setting. It’s off by default, so captions will continue focusing on microphone and system audio instead of transcribing audio from screen readers such as Narrator, JAWS, and NVDA. Turn it on when you want screen reader audio included in the captions.
Hyper-V improvements
Hyper-V gets a fix for a frustrating Plan9 folder-sharing problem. Some applications using HCS-managed virtual machines could not properly share folders from the Windows host with Linux virtual machines. Shared folders either failed to appear or could not be accessed from the guest environment.
File History fixes
File History gets a fix for an issue that could unexpectedly stop backups from working. Some users were seeing the “No usable drives found” error when trying to back up their files, even though the feature should have been available.
