Build 26220.8754 for Windows 11 25H2 fixes one of File Explorer’s most annoying problems – Beta

Windows 11 Beta build rolls out with File Explorer, Taskbar, and audio fixes, plus a new smart card security policy for enterprise users.

Microsoft has released the Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (26220.8754) for version 25H2 via the Beta experience in the Windows Insider Program. This flight introduces various fixes as part of the Windows K2 initiative and a new policy for smart cards.

According to the official notesWindows 11 build 26220.8754 addresses an issue in File Explorer where the OneDrive shortcut stops working when the app is run in administrator mode.

In addition, this flight improves loading reliability for the System Tray area of the Taskbar and the system sounds when using dark mode.

Furthermore, Microsoft is adding a new security feature for organizations using Microsoft Entra ID authentication with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows 365. This allows network administrators to automatically disconnect remote sessions when a redirected smart card is removed, helping enforce security policies and meet compliance requirements.

To download and install these Windows 11 builds, enroll your Devices in the Beta channel through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download the build from the “Windows Update” settings by turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option and clicking the “Check for Updates” button.
