  • To change the audio balance levels, open Settings > System > Sound, choose the speaker, click on “Volume,” and change the balance settings.
  • Alternatively, you can still change the sound balance from the Control Panel.

On Windows 11, you can easily adjust the balance levels when the speakers or headphones sound unbalanced. In this guide, I’ll outline the steps to complete this configuration.

Although when you connect a pair of speakers or headphones, the system can configure the audio settings automatically, sometimes you may have to change the settings manually to fix unbalanced levels when the audio doesn’t sound right.

Regardless of the reason, Windows 11 lets you adjust the balance levels in at least two ways, including through the Settings app and the Control Panel. If you have difficulty hearing sounds from your computer, you should enable mono audio instead.

In this guide, I’ll teach you the easy steps to change the balance levels on Windows 11.

Adjust sound balance (left and right) on Windows 11

To adjust the left and right sound balance on Windows 11, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings on Windows 11.

  2. Click on System

  3. Click the Sound page.

  4. Select the speakers to adjust the sound balance.

    Speaker settings

  5. Under the “Output settings” section, use the “Left channel” and “Right channel” sliders to change the balance levels.

Once you complete the steps, the audio will output with your balance configuration.

Adjust sound balance (left and right) from Control Panel

To change the audio balance levels from the Control Panel on Windows 11, follow these steps:

  1. Open Control Panel.

  2. Click on Hardware and Sound

  3. Click on Sound.

    Control Panel Sound settings

  4. Select the speakers or headphones to change audio balance levels and click the Properties button.

    Speaker properties

  5. Click the Levels tab.

  6. Click the Balance button.

  7. Use the “L” and “R” sliders to change the sound balance levels on Windows 11.

Control Panel change audio balance levels

  8. Click the OK button.

  9. Click the Apply button.

  10. Click the OK button.

After you complete the steps, the new balance levels will apply to your Windows 11 installation.

It’s important to note that the balance settings may only be available on certain speakers, such as built-in speakers on laptops, tablets, and all-in-one PCs. If the settings to change the audio balance aren’t available, you may have to change the settings from controls built into the speakers themselves.
