Following Microsoft’s official announcement opening pre-orders for the flagship Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, the device’s official background image has received an updated look.
If you want to give your current desktop setup a fresh, modern aesthetic, you can now download the high-resolution image directly to use on Windows 11 (or Windows 10), macOS, or any display.
The design features a vibrant, flowing wave pattern with rich deep blue and purple hues on the left blending into warm orange, yellow, and red accents on the right. It reflects Microsoft’s updated design language for high-end hardware, making it a great fit for modern high-DPI displays.

You can also download the previous version of the wallpaper, which was a dark, abstract, marbled swirl of grey and black.
Once you download the file, open Settings > Personalization > Background, select the “Picture” option in the “Personalize your background” setting, and then click the “Browse Photos” button to select the image you want to set as a desktop background. You can use these instructions if you don’t have an activated version of Windows 11.
