The Anniversary Update of Windows 10 is now slowly rolling out to over 350 million computers. As always Microsoft recommends to install any new major release through Windows Update. However, the company is also releasing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update ISO files for those who prefer doing an offline install.

If you prefer to download the official ISO files to install the Anniversary Update (version 1607) on one or multiple computers, you can now get the files through Microsoft’s support website — below you can see how.

Official Windows 10 Anniversary Update ISO file download

  1. Head over to the Download Windows 10 Disc Image (ISO File) web page.

  2. Select the edition (Windows 10). You will notice you can select between Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro that’s because whatever you choose will get you both editions.

  3. Click the Confirm button.

  4. Choose your language.

  5. Click the Confirm button.

  6. Depending on the version you use, click the 32-bit Download or 64-bit Download button.

Then the Win10_1607_English_x64 will begin the download.

If you don’t know which version to get, on your computer go to Settings > System > About, and see System type. Once you download the installation files, you can use these instructions to create a USB bootable media using Rufus.

Keep in mind that this isn’t the only way to get the official ISO files, you can also use the Media Creation Tool by choosing the Create installation media for another PC, and selecting the ISO file option.

Now you can be on your way to do a clean install of Windows 10 with the Anniversary Update (version 1607). Or to do an in-place upgrade.
