UPDATED 5/25/23: On Windows 11, you can now install the “Moment 3” feature drop update, and in this guide, you will learn how. Although the operating system only receives one feature update per year, it also receives feature drop updates (also known as moments), which are minor updates that can introduce new features and improvements outside the yearly release.

The Moment 3 update (build 22621.1778) is available starting May 24, and it’s expected to be fully available on June 13 as part of the Patch Tuesday update for devices running Windows 11 22H2. Since the update doesn’t require reinstallation and only includes a small scope of changes, it doesn’t have an official name. It’s simply known as update KB5026446 (build 22621.1776) and introduces various new features and improvements.

For example, in the Taskbar, you can now show seconds for the System Track clock, and the network icon now shows a VPN shield status for an active connection. Notification toasts now provide an option to copy two-factor authentication (2FA) codes. Also, the Windows 11 Moment 3 update expands Live Captions to more regions and rolls out various improvements for Voice Access. Furthermore, there’s a new kiosk multi-app mode feature, Task Manager now offers the ability to create live kernel memory dumps, and the Settings app rolls out with various improvements.

The Moment 3 update will download and install automatically during the June 2023 Patch Tuesday, but you can always force it manually through Windows Update in the Stable Channel or by enrolling your device in the Release Preview Channel.

This guide will teach you the steps to force the newest update with new features and improvements for Windows 11.
