How to shutdown or restart device on Windows 10X

On Windows 10X, the power options are no longer in the Start menu, but you can still shutdown and restart your device quite easily – here's how.

Although Windows 10X still carries much of the familiarity of Windows 10, a lot of features have been removed, and many others have been reworked, including the power options.

If you are a Windows 10 user, you know that the power options are located in the Start menu, but on Windows 10X, that is no longer the case. Instead, the option to shut down, restart, and lock the device has been relocated to Action Center.

How to shutdown device on Windows 10X

To shut down Windows 10X, use these steps:

  1. Click the bottom-right corner of the taskbar (time, network, and battery).

  2. Click the Power button.

  3. Select the “Shut down” button.

Once you complete the steps, the device running Windows 10X will shut down.

How to restart device on Windows 10x

To restart Windows 10X, use these steps:

  1. Click the bottom-right corner of the taskbar (time, network, and battery).

  2. Click the Power button.

After you complete the steps, Windows 10X will restart the device.

How to lock device on Windows 10X

To lock Windows 10X, use these steps:

  1. Click the bottom-right corner of the taskbar (time, network, and battery).

  2. Click the Profile button.

Once you complete the steps, the device will lock, and you will need to confirm your account credentials to sign back into the desktop again.
