Windows 11 22H2 (build 22621.317) outs in the Release Preview Channel

Microsoft pushes yet another preview of Windows 11 22H2, but for those devices enrolled in the Release Preview Channel.

  • Windows 11 22H2 update KB5015885 (build 22621.317) is now available in the Release Preview Channel.
  • The update brings only fixes and several improvements.
  • This release doesn’t include new features.

As part of version 22H2, Windows 11 build 22621.317 (KB5015885) is now available in the Release Preview Channel. This update only includes fixes and no new features. However, build 22622.440 for version 22H2 includes some new features, but the update is available through the Beta Channel.

According to the official changes, build 22621.317 only fixes a bunch of issues with the Smart App Control feature, crashes with the virtualized Appt-V Office applications, increases game latency, and resolves some problems with various apps, including the Take a Test and Camera app.

Update KB5015885 fixes and changes for Windows 11

These are the fixes and new features available with the latest update of Windows 11:

  • Fixed an issue that prevents troubleshooters from opening.
  • Fixed an issue that might increase the latency of games when vertical sync (VSync or v-sync) is in use.
  • Fixed an issue that affects the ProjectionManager.StartProjectingAsync API and prevents certain locales from connecting to Miracast Sinks.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Smart App Control to block catalog-signed files.
  • Fixed an issue that causes the Take a Test app to remove all policies related to lockdown enforcement when you close the app.
  • Fixed an issue that might highly distort photos you take using the Camera app. This issue occurs when using certain cameras under certain low light conditions.
  • Fixed an issue that throws an exception when you debug drivers using Visual Studio 2022 version 17.2 or later.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Windows profile service to fail sporadically. The failure might occur when signing in. The error message is, “gpsvc service failed to sign in. Access denied”.
  • Fixed an issue that prevents virtualized App-V Office applications from opening or causes them to stop responding.

If you want to download and install the Windows 11 build 22621.317, you need to enroll your device in the Release Channel using the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section.

Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download build 22621.317 (KB5015885) from the “Windows Update” settings by clicking the Check for Updates button. However, you will need a device that meets the minimum system requirements to receive the update if you are new to the Windows Insider Program.
