- You can use ViveTool on Windows 11 to enable hidden or experimental features that Microsoft gradually rolls out.
- Run it in Command Prompt (admin) using the syntax
vivetool /enable /id:feature-code. - Codes vary by Windows Insider channel (Experimental, Beta, Release Preview) and regular update builds.
If you’re missing a specific feature on Windows 11, you may be able to enable it with the ViveTool, and in this guide, I’ll outline the codes you can use to enable certain improvements on your computer.
On Windows 11, Microsoft takes a gradual, controlled approach to introducing new features, meaning that when the company announces a new feature through a cumulative update or in any of the Windows Insider Program channels, it marks the beginning of the rollout. It can take a long time for the feature to become available on your installation.
The ViveTool is a third-party command-line application created by Rafael Rivera and Lucas, available on GitHub, that allows you to enable hidden experimental features in preview builds and features gradually rolling out to everyone.
However, it’s worth noting that the company has made changes to the Windows Insider Program with new channels, including the Experimental, Beta, and Release Preview, changing the way that users receive updates.
In the new structure, the Beta channel always rolls out with all the advertised features enabled by default. On the one hand, preview builds in the Experimental channel may or may not have features enabled, but there’s a new Feature flags page that lets you easily turn experimental features on and off without using ViveTool.
That said, you may still need ViveTool to enable features Microsoft didn’t mention in the official notes.
In this guide, I’ll outline the codes you can use to enable specific features on Windows 11. This list is expected to be updated as soon as new features and changes become available.
ViveTool codes to enable features on Windows 11
Although you may be able to enable hidden features on Windows 11, sometimes, the ViveTool approach may not work for everyone. Also, some features may require specific hardware, and they may be limited to certain regions.
To enable the feature, open Command Prompt (admin), open the ViveTool directory, and run the vivetool /enable /id:feature-code command. For example, vivetool /enable /id:57048231.
You can refer to this guide to learn more about how to use the ViveTool on Windows 11. The codes are usually provided by @PhatomOfEarth.
